Components of Food

Our meals have roti, sabzi, dal, rice, salad, and sometime depends on the region where are living.
What's the reason to eat different types of dishes in a meal?
The simple reason to eat so many dishes in a meal is that every dish in a meal has certain types of components called as Nutrients and these nutrients are important for the body.

What different nutrients do in our body?

Carbohydrate: - Provide energy (For example drinking Glucose)
1 gram of carbohydrate = 4 calories
Fat: - the Same amount of fat gives more energy but excess fat is harmful and causes obesity and other cardiovascular diseases.
1 gram of fat = 9 calories
Proteins: - Important for growth and repair of our body like hairs, nails, muscles, etc.
1 gram of proteins = 4 calories
Vitamins and Minerals: - Protect from diseases and keep eyes, gums, bones healthy.

Food should be properly cooked not too much not too less, if the food is less cooked then it may have pathogens and if the food is cooked too much, the nutrients could be degraded.
Vegetables should be washed before cutting to prevent vitamin loss. Washing pulses and rice too much can remove some vitamins, proteins, and minerals from them.

The vitamin C normally gets degraded during cooking due to heat.
